This is a plant cell. A plant cell has -> Cell Wall-Made up of a thick layer of cellulose -Supports the Plant Cell -Gives the plant cell a regular shape -Holds the plant cell together with other plant cells -> Cell Membrane-A thin partially permeable layer which controls the movement of materials in and out -Only allows certain materials to pass through it. ->Vacuole-Large and forms the biggest part of the plant cell. -Usually reduces the Cytoplasm to a thin lining -There's usually one vacuole filled with cell sap in every plant cell ->Cytoplasm-Thin lining in in the plant cell ->Cell Sap- A liquid containing dissolved substances such as sugar and salt -Keeps the cell firm by taking in water -It is found in the vacuole ->Nucleus- Controls all chemical reactions that take place in the cell. ->Chloroplast-a jelly-like substance containing many tiny structures. -chemical reactions take place here.
Ultra filtration is a low pressure membrane process use to seperate high molecular weight compounds from a feed stream. It is useful for the seperation of delicate materials since it is a non denaturing method of seperation. It has larger pores then the reverse osmosis.It's seperation requires fewer membrane elements and lower pressure operation, and is therefore the least costly of the three to operate.The filtrated water only contains dissolved salts and organic molecules. It does not clog the membrane used during reverse osmosis, which is the next step in the newater production process. Ultra filtration filters out suspended solids, colloidal particles, disease- causing bacterial and other viruses.
Any substance that contains only one kind of an atom is known as an element. Because atoms cannot be created or destroyed in a chemical reaction, elements such as phosphorus (P4) or sulfur (S8) cannot be broken down into simpler substances by these reactions. Example: Water decomposes into a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen when an electric current is passed through the liquid. Hydrogen and oxygen, on the other hand, cannot be decomposed into simpler substances. They are therefore the elementary, or simplest, chemical substances - elements. Each element is represented by a unique symbol. The notation for each element can be found on the periodic table of elements. The elements can be divided into three categories that have characteristic properties: metals, nonmetals, and semimetals. Most elements are metals, which are found on the left and toward the bottom of the periodic table. A handful of nonmetals are clustered in the upper right corner of the periodic table. The semimetals can be found along the dividing line between the metals and the nonmetals.
+Reflection+ At first the task that Ms Toh gave to us made all of us confused. We asked each other to solve on how to do the different tasks. We then decide on a date and time to go to the Singapore Science Centre to do our research and our task. In addition, we can learn more about the amazing science!!! As most of us had to go for our own CCAs, tuitions, overseas holidays, homework and other projects given out by other teachers. We also faced some difficulty in finding time to meet and do the project, but we still managed to find some time to spare for this DIFFICULT and challenging project.Today we went to the Science Centre to complete the task. We went there to observe the different experiments on display. We don't have much time left after we trying out on some experiments and the research. Nevertheless we continued it at one of the group member’s house. We encountered a problem while developing our blog. As we have to put in creativity into this project, we used most of our time to find a nice and 'suitable' blog skin to enhance our creativity.
Then we proceeded with task 1.We used the photos we have photographed in the Science Centre. We chose photos related to task 1.At first, we had problems putting the photos inside the blog, in the end, and we used those available animations provided by Shu Gee. We had a hard time and regretted using a blog but we still managed to find one which is suitable for the project and Ms Toh and Mr. Fok. We sat down to work out the problems of putting the photos into the blog. After that we went on to task 2.In doing the second task, we thought that we had done enough research atthe Science Centre but we realized we were wrong. We did not have enoughinformation to complete the second task. Therefore, we looked up on the internet for more information. We were so obsessed in our work until we realized it was 9pm at night. Since it was quite late, we began splitting the job among ourselves.
We compiled everyone’s work together and did up the finishing touches. Since most of the project has been done, we finished up the reflection and will be handing it to Ms Toh or Mr. Fok when school reopens.
